Time: 2:10:08
Distance: 13mi
Weather: at the start: 64 degrees, 72% humidity
Awesome run today! Started at around 6:15am, and was a bit freaked out being on the trail alone. Need to buy a small pocket knife for those mornings. Mine got taken at the airport when we flew to Washington. Anyway, Marisa met me around Mile 6.5 and we had a good go the last half.
Two things I'm worried about: 1) my feet!! My poor toes are getting obliterated by my shoes. Three weeks ago I bruised my right toe, and I'm wondering if my left got bruised today. Dear god do I need size 10.5 running shoes? THANKS, PREGNANCY! ;-(
2) My right knee hurts. Like to the point that I was not running properly for a while today. Had to walk for about a quarter mile, and was honestly limping. Knee was nearly giving out each step. Bad. Will ice today and take drugs. Very sad if I have a knee injury, but am going to ignore it for now.

New week, new issues...
Sunday, August 22
Time: 39:48
Distance: 4mi
Weather: Treadmill
Just couldn't face the weather today. Plus I was still in recovery for lack of sleep and jetlag, so woke up too late and it was just so hot. Did 4 on the treadmill and felt better that I at least got 13 miles in this WEEKEND, even though I blew it yesterday.
Wednesday, August 25
Time: about 32 mins
Distance: about 3.25
Weather: Treadmill
Having a hard time getting out there early this week. Danny's in Miami and I am responsible for Davis and daycare and morning stuff. So, ran today during lunch. It was hard! I'm just so ingrained to run in the early morning. My body is NOT HAPPY when I ask it to do that kind of work after about 10am.
Thursday, August 26
Time: 49:13
Distance: 5mi
Weather: Treadmill
Was really expecting to run outside today, but I have davis again and the wheels on his jogging stroller are deflated. Not happy about this. So had to go to gym and put him in playroom and run the treadmill instead. Felt AWESOME today!!! Hardly breathing heavy, which is such a drastic change from yesterday. Plus my legs weren't sore at all. And the last three runs they have just been so crampy! Particularly my calves. I think because of this crazy steep hike Danny and I did last Wednesday in WA. So was grateful to have my legs and my breath back.

4mi, 9mi
Wednesday, August 18
Distance: 4mi
Time: 38:32
Weather: too cool, suffered when I got back, but it was awesome.
My second run in Washington was lovely! It was probably 55 degrees and kinda windy but not sunny and just perfect. Both of the runs I did in Washington, we also ended up hiking the same day for 2+ hours. I love active vacations.
Saturday, August 21
Distance: ~9mi
Time: 1:30
Weather: 76 degrees, HUMID. Horrible.
Today's run was just awful. Awful! I was supposed to run 13 but just knew there'd be no way. I was sweating through my clothes before I'd gone even a mile, and was panting like an 80 year old asthmatic and cramping by about 30 minutes in. It was just awful. But, every training season gives me one awful run. Today was it. I'll look forward to everything being uphill from here!

Last week, one this week
Last week recap:
Distance: 9 miles
Total distance to date: 74 miles
Last Saturday, I bruised my toe on my 12 miles. It was really starting to hurt after the run on Tuesday and i was starting to worry about it getting worse. I decided I would skip my third weekly run and wait for Saturday long run. Then things got completely crazy preparing for Washington trip and i knew i wouldn't have time for a 2 plus hour run before the plane. I decided I'd run on Sunday in Washington, but that turned out to be too lofty a goal. Our flight was delayed, and then we had a two hour drive to karl and hilary's. So i ended up being awake from 5am until 2:30am eastern time. Exhaustion. No run.
Today:
Time: 1:02:43
Distance: a bit over 6
Weather: cool, but super humid
So now i ended up taking five days off and ran 6 miles this morning. Great run, given I was completely recovered. It was quite humid, which is good... I won't get completely used to running in ideal conditions and then have to go back to the rainforest oven i live in.

3mi, 6mi
Monday:
Time: 30:58
Distance: ~3mi
Weather: HOT AND HUMID
Dripping sweat after running the Rosslyn hill this morning with Marisa. Took crystal lite in my water bottle and realized the fake sugar tastes completely disgusting warm. Need to remember that.
Tuesday:
Time: 1:00:39
Distance: Just under 6mi
Weather: Same as Monday, only a little warmer and muggier
Not a bad day today, but definitely feeling stiff and fatigue after completing 22 miles in 4 days. Glad training is going well, though, and feeling proud of myself for that. My toe/toenail is bruised. Hurts like a mother to put pressure from above on the toenail. Not sure how to proceed, but plan to take off until Saturday's half marathon to see if that will help. Also thinking maybe I need to go up a shoesize? can't believe I could be a 10.5 running shoe, but maybe Davis left a permanent mark on my feet. ha. Also checking with the facebook group to see what else I can blame it on, and what I can do to try and fix it.

Back on the W&OD Trail Again!
Time: 1:58:30
Distance: 12mi
Weather: 65-74 and sunny, low humidity
Today was WOOOOOOONDERFUL! Ran on the W&OD from just before Rt 28 to just after Fairfax County Parkway. I love running in my old neighborhoods. I just love it, it makes me happy. Around here I'm always stressed about where to run, never know a good route or where the sidewalk might stop and then start up again. So annoying. It just feels *good* to be back on my old stomping ground, where I belong. :)
I had planned to only run 11 today, because my 9 was tough last week and I didn't want to set my expectations too high. But I stopped at the 7-11 on the trail, around mile 8, and got a second gatorade and a small package of fig newtons and that completely set me up! I really was feeling quite good at mile 10. I mean, all things considered (I had run 10 miles so didn't feel GREAT). So I thought, hey, I'll push it another mile. Last week I couldn't have gone another step, and I was nowhere near that point this week. So I just ran a half mile out and back at the end. I felt really, really good about myself. Am sore this morning, but still proud. Just like paper covers rock, proud covers sore any day of the week in my book.
Weekly total: 24mi
Total (started recording at wk 5) for this marathon: 65

Running Blog Day 1
Time: 21:25, +300 stadium steps
Distance: about 2.2mi
Temp: 76 degrees, not terribly humid
My motivation was in the toilet this morning. I got out of the car and actually walked across the street. WALKED. Before I could finally talk myself into starting to jog a bit. The first three laps were about 2m/34s because I was just feeling BLECH. Not physically, but emotionally. Uncommitted. I rallied when I realized I was feeling good, and started to get into it a bit more. Was nagging on me that I got a late start though, and that I was running so slow today. So just decided to use the good physical feeling and do some stadium steps.
I've never done that before- enjoyed it. My carpool buddy from the Yosemite trip said she runs steps all the time. She was a complete badass on the trails so I think I'll try and add in some stairs every week. Still am thinking about taking Davis out for a hike on Sunday. :)
I think I'll just start tracking my training since last week. Before Yosemite I can't remember much.
July 25-31: Ran 21 miles. 3mi Mon, 4mi Tues, 5mi Thu, 9mi Sat
August 1-now: 3mi Mon, 6mi Tue, 2.2mi today. Plan is to run 11 on Saturday.
Food intake has been a challenge this week. I need to write about my eating because, well, I'm bad at it. Felt terrible about having this ridiculous oreo dessert last night. Haven't gotten over it. Really want to push myself to get over my addiction to sugar. Since (I'm starting to really notice) I think it's an actual, bonified addiction, it's proving harder than I originally thought. I need to be healthier. I need to commit to this.
Okay, bed for now.
